Watch Splice Description
Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and actress Sarah Polley (The Sweet Hereafter) play two famous genetic scientists Clive and Elsa who are working on mass producing a new and very profitable medical protein for a large pharmaceutical company called Newstead.
During their research they stumble upon a way to splice together DNA in a manner that will create a new life form. Since Newstead is only interested in the protein and does not want to get into genetics, they threaten to pull all funding if Clive and Elsa do not stop their parallel research into human genetics.
The two agree to stop, but then secretly continue with their efforts which are eventually successful as they do in fact create a new baby life-form.
Clive and Elsa raise the baby secretly in their cabin in the woods. Since the life form ages much quicker than humans, it reaches puberty in just a matter of months. However with puberty comes all the hormonal changes and mood swings, and suddenly their cute little genetic addition becomes a raging monster who cannot control her urges.
This is an exceptional movie about the consequences of playing God.
