An all star cast of actors lend their distinctive voices to this latest chapter of the cats and dogs spy agencies. You will recognize the voices of Nick Nolte, Christina Applegate, Roger Moore, Neil Patrick Harris, Joe Pantoliano, Sean Hayes, and in the starring role of the rouge cat … Bette Midler.

In this movie the two house-pet spy agencies MEOWZ and DOGZ are forced to put aside their differences and work together when ex- MEOWZ agent Kitty Galore (Bette Midler) wages war on all sides after being thrown out of MEOWZ. Kitty Galore’s ideas and plans for cat domination were too extreme even for MEOWZ.

This movie is a visual treat for kids and a pop culture reference treat for adults. We have the disgraced ex-cop dog, framed for a crime he did not commit, his “48 hours” type sidekick (Nick Nolte), the master criminal obsessed with world domination. Even the name Kitty Galore is a reference to a famous James Bond character.

We even have the back story to Kitty Galore to help understand why she turned evil (she lost her hair after being pushed into a container of hair remover).

This movie is very well done. The animals look like they are actually talking and have some really good super-spy tools at their disposal. A nice movie that the whole family will enjoy.

Watch Ramona and Beezus Description

In the movie Ramona and Beezus, the father (John Corbett) loses his job. This causes the mother (Bridget Moynahan) to go back to work while the dad stays home with the girls.

Ramona comes up with several ideas to help out with the family finances, but unfortunately they end up causing trouble and making the situation worse. Nevertheless, Ramona is heart in always in the right place.

The on screen chemistry between the two leads (Beezus, played by Selena Gomez and Ramona played by Joey King) is just great. You can see that these two actresses must have become good friends while making this film.

Ramona and Beezus is a cute and timely film about how love of family can overcome many problems.

Watch Salt Description

Angelina Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a master CIA agent and one of their best counter-intelligence people. When she is called in to interrogate a Russian defector, she is fingered as a Russian mole, part of a network of sleeper cells living in the United States waiting for orders from the Soviet Union.

Astonished, her colleagues in the interrogation room with her immediately try to capture her. Through some ingenuity and remarkable physical stunts she is able to get out of the CIA building and escape into the city.

Now Salt must try to figure out what is going on, clear her own name and stop whatever Russian plot has been set in motion … all the while trying to elude her CIA trackers.

Salt is a superior action adventure movie that will keep the audience guessing until the very end. Angelina Jolie shows here that she can carry one of these types of movies all by herself.

Watch Inception Description

Inception is a crime movie. It is about a team of hi-tech criminals who are able to enter the dreams of the sleeping and steal information. Their leader is Cobb, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and he is the one that deals with the big corporations when they want to him to steal information and secrets from competitors.

The team is hired for a new assignment, which is to enter the dreams of the owner of a big Japanese conglomerate and steal some information. But when the job is bungled and the Japanese boss discovers what has been attempted, he makes Cobb an offer he can’t refuse.

The offer is to enter the dreams of the rival who hired him and plant thoughts into those dreams. The rival will awaken and believe these thoughts to be his own. The Japanese boss will then be able to use these false thoughts against him. In return, Cobb is promised that he will be reunited with his kids (they have been separated for reasons that are explained later in the film).

Cobb will do anything to see his kids again and agrees. The remainder of the movie follows the team setting up, training for and then executing the final plan.

You will not believe the special effects used in this movie. Sidewalks rising into the air, buildings sliding into the ocean, etc. Just remarkable.

Watch Monsters vs. Aliens 3D Description

This is a very fun movie about alien invasion. An evil alien empire sets its sights on the planet earth and decides to invade, conquer and inhabit the planet. The people on earth have no real defense against these much more advanced species except their little “secret” weapons.

It seems that for the past 50 years the government has been finding and holding several earth-bound monsters in an unknown, area 51 type of complex. They now have a total of 5 monsters, with the last one having been a human until she was hit by a meteor on her wedding day and turned into a 50 foot monster.

Fortunately these monsters agree to fight the invading aliens to try to save the earth. However it is unfortunate that they are pretty much inept at most everything, so victory seems a remote possibility.

With this story setup you would expect a pretty good movie, and Monsters vs aliens is quite good. If you are older you will recognize homage being paid to quite a few classic, old-time science fiction films such as Monster Zero, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Close Encounters, Mothra and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

An interesting point about all of this is that it appears that the filmmakers have targeted this movie to a younger audience, given that several of the monsters are cute in a Monsters Inc sort of way. But unless you are an older adult you will not catch all the references to the movies of old.

Nevertheless, this is an entertaining movie for the whole family with nothing objectionable for kids.
