Liam Neeson plays Dr. John Martin, a man on vacation with his wife when he is involved in a car wreck. He awakens from his coma to find that he remembers who he is, but apparently no one else does. There is someone else with his wife who claims to be Dr Martin … and his wife agrees.
This is the begining of one of the smartest movies made in a long time. Neeson just came off a terrific role in the hit movie Taken, and now he has followed up with this gem.
Martin begins to wonder if he is going crazy. No one he remembers seems to remember him. As he tries to make sense of what is going on, he discovers that people are starting to try to kill him.
Then begins what turns out to be two simultaneous chases …. Martin is chasing who he is and why he remembers things that no one else does, and at the same time he tries to avoid the mysterious men who are chasing him wanting to kill him. Alfred Hitchcock was a master of this type of double chase action, the innocent man running to clear his name before he is caught by the people trying to kill him.
Unknown is not of the same level as a Hitchcock masterpiece, but as an entertaining and intelligent movie this is worth the price of admission.
