Watch True Grit 2010 Description
True Grit is a remake of the 1969 John Wayne movie of the same name. Though this edition follows the book more than that classic film.
The plot is simple and easy to follow. After her father is gunned down by an outlaw, 14 year old Mattie Ross hires Rooster Cogburn, a US Marshall, to track down and bring her father’s killer to justice. True Grit is basically a chase movie.
First of all, it would be impossible to cast this movie any better. Jeff Bridges was born to play Rooster Cogburn. He is gruff, smart and doesn’t care what anybody thinks of him. There is no need to make comparisons to John Wayne, Bridges version is just as good.
Matt Damon plays Laboeuf, a Texas Ranger who accompanies Cogburn on the hunt. And Josh Brolin plays Tom Chaney, the killer of Mattie’s father. This is a real powerhouse of actors in a single movie. But even as good as all of them are, the revelation is the young actress who plays Mattie Ross … Hailee Steinfeld. Hailee pretty much steals the movie with her portrayal of the determined girl looking for revenge.
An outstanding western.
