Watch Yogi Bear Description
I don’t know how many comtemporary children actually know who Yogi Bear and Boo Boo are, but Dan Aykroyd does a pretty decent job sounding like Yogi from the cartoons, and Justin Timberlake is just spot-on with his Boo Boo impersonation. Maybe this movie should have been targeted more toward people who appreciate the artistry.
The animated Yogi and Boo Boo characters are really well done as they look pretty natural walking around Jellystone Park. And the interaction with human actors (like Tom Cavanagh’s Mr Ranger) is seemless. There is alot of money up there on the screen.
But how does the movie do with the kids? I thought the plot of closing down Jellystone Park was a bit intense for little children, with kids turning to their moms and asking “but where will they live?”. If you are going to target this to very young children then you should be more careful no to scare your audience. But kids will like the way the characters move and especially talk. And of course no one can swipe a picnic basket like Yogi bear.
