I didn’t think it was possible to out do the original 1970s movie I Spit on Your Grave. I was wrong.
This 2010 version is the most repulsive and misogynist movie ever made. I fact I don’t know how this movie wasn’t banned in the USA.
The so-called plot is nothing more than excuse for almost 2 hours of rape and revenge. A young woman who is new in town gets cornered and then viciously ganged raped multiple times by a pack of sick young guys. Every form of penetration is depicted, although never quite graphic enough to give this movie an X rating.
No matter though, because what is shown is sickening. After the woman recovers she then sets out to stalk and get revenge on each of the rapists. She certainly does get back at them, but by the time each of these lowlifes get their just desserts, the audience is so numb as to no longer feel much of anything.

No remake of the Green Hornet could ever equal, let alone surpass, the original 1960 tv version. Why? Because Bruce Lee is still dead. Anyone old enough to have watched that show and know who Bruce Lee was knows that he was the only reason to watch an otherwise ridiculous show.
This version has no Bruce Lee … that is strike one. This version has almost no plot, at least one that I can remember…. that is strike two. Seth Rogan playing Britt Reid (the green hornet) as a foul mouthed, border line racist was utterly disgusting…. strike three. This was a movie intended for children?
This must have been a parady of The Green Hornet because it certainly wasn’t a homage. It is impossible to tell if this is supposed to be a comedy or action film. No matter, it is terrible at being either.

Taking a break from all of those Disney movies, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays Driver, an inmate just released from the prison after serving a 10 year sentence for bank robbery. In his hand as he leaves jail is a list of all the people he intends to kill. How is that for an opening!
Driver and his brother were members of a gang involved in a botched bank robbery 10 years ago. During that robbery gone bad his brother was killed and Driver nearly so. After recovering from his injuries he was sent to prison. While incarcerated he discovered that his team was setup, and that was the reason his brother lost his life. Now Driver is on a single-minded mission to find each of the responsible people on his list and kill them.
As Driver hunts his targets, he himself is hunted by two police officers (Billy Bob Thornton and Carla Gugino) who become aware of his plan and attempt to stop him. Also on Driver’s tail is an anonymous hit man (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) who is thrilled that he finally has a worthy opponent to track.
Faster has all of the action and thrills expected from a top notch revenge flick, and The Rock kills his targets in the most spectacular ways. All that is left to find out is if he can kill everyone on his list before all the “hunters” finally meet for the final unforgettable shootout.

Man was this fun! Russell Crowe plays John Brennan, an ordinary school teacher whose life is turned upside down when his wife is falsely accused, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder that she did not commit.
Russell Crowe is fantastic as the husband who goes from disbelief to fear to despair to outrage as his wife goes through the criminal court system after being wrongly accused of murder. When the process is over and his wife begins serving her life sentance, he has two choices … move on with his and his son’s life or break her the hell out of prison. He decides to spring her. And he doesn’t care who gets hurt.
We watch as Brennan, who supposedly had no previous knowledge of prison escape, slowly plans, selects and assembles everything he needs for the escape plot. Now the movie shows this process very cleverly in that we see all the individual parts, but we are kept in the dark as to how they will all fit together when the actual escape is executed.
When the long escape is finally executed, all the parts come together and the audience is blown away by the plan … or at least I and the people I was with were blown away. The escape actually makes sense. The only downside is that a major part of the plan is that everything must work flawlessly, which I don’t think would really happen in real life.
No matter, this movie is smart and very entertaining.

This is the movie where Jigsaw lays it all out. Killing everything that moves, he is out for revenge in this final chapter of the phenomenally successful Saw franchise.
An author has become a worldwide sensation due to his book about being captured and tortured, but then ultimately escaping from the notorious serial killer Jigsaw. Now in the middle of a successful book tour, he is making money hand over fist. Just one problem …. the story isn’t true. It is all made up just to cash in on the terror and fear generated by the Jigsaw killings.
Unfortunately for this author, Jigsaw has become aware of him and is about to make him wish he were never born.
In a parallel story, Jigsaw is pissed that Jill (from the previous movie) tried to kill him. When she saw that she failed she immediately ran to the police for protection. Now Jigsaw is waging a one man war against the police department that is shielding her. If they don’t give her up he will continue to leave his death traps all over the city.
The body count is up, the traps are more ingenious and complex then ever, and no one seems to be able to stop Jigsaw. This was one terrifying movie!
