Watch The Rite Description
The Rite will undoubtedly be compared to the 1973 masterpiece “The Exorcist”. Indeed, there are many parallels between the two movies.
Anthony Hopkins play Father Lucas Trevant, a very creepy and experienced exorcist who believes wholeheartedly in the existence of Pure Evil. He also believes in Pure Good, but doubts that good will always prevail.
Colin O’Donoghue plays Michael Kovak, a young clergyman who is in it just for the scholarship … and to get away from his over-bearing father. Kovak doesn’t plan to stay in the clergy for long, and in fact doesn’t really believe in God at all. He just sees this as some loophole to get an education.
Kovak ends up working with Father Trevant. Trevant takes Kovak under his wing as an apprentice in exorcisms. The balance of the movie deals with the two men’s beliefs in Good ad Evil as they take on the Devil himself in the form of a possessed little girl.
This is a mesmerizing movie with amazing performances from the lead actors. The final battle between Good and Evil will stay with you for a long time afterwards.
