Watch True Grit 2010 Description

True Grit is a remake of the 1969 John Wayne movie of the same name. Though this edition follows the book more than that classic film.

The plot is simple and easy to follow. After her father is gunned down by an outlaw, 14 year old Mattie Ross hires Rooster Cogburn, a US Marshall, to track down and bring her father’s killer to justice. True Grit is basically a chase movie.

First of all, it would be impossible to cast this movie any better. Jeff Bridges was born to play Rooster Cogburn. He is gruff, smart and doesn’t care what anybody thinks of him. There is no need to make comparisons to John Wayne, Bridges version is just as good.

Matt Damon plays Laboeuf, a Texas Ranger who accompanies Cogburn on the hunt. And Josh Brolin plays Tom Chaney, the killer of Mattie’s father. This is a real powerhouse of actors in a single movie. But even as good as all of them are, the revelation is the young actress who plays Mattie Ross … Hailee Steinfeld. Hailee pretty much steals the movie with her portrayal of the determined girl looking for revenge.

An outstanding western.

Watch The Warrior’s Way Description

Korean action superstar Jang Dong-gun plays a Ninja assassin who works for a ruthless cartel. When he gets an assignment that requires him to kill an infant, he balks and instead saves the baby. This insubordination means certain death, so the Ninja takes the baby to the West to escape. He eventually finds himself hiding out in an old dusty town inhabited by drunks, derilects and circus performers. He also meets a cowgirl played by Kate Bosworth, who too is hiding out, this time from a gang of cowboys that she crossed.

Life in this mysterious town is nothing like what the Ninja is accustomed to, but he gradually takes a liking to the area and the townspeople as he begins to interact with them. He especially takes a liking to the cowgirl, and they begin a romantic relationship.

But eventually the Ninja’s clan and the cowgirl’s pursuers both discover where they are hiding and converge in the little town. The resulting stand off and fight is one of the best action scenes from 2010. The director uses slow-motion effects to draw out each fight movement to great success. And blood goes everywhere.

The Warriors Way succeeds in being both an action and romance movie. The story line is good and the cinematography is just beautiful. But this is not a film for kids.

Watch Jonah Hex Description

The movie Jonah Hex differs from the comic book character that was created back in the early 1970s. For some reason this movie has given Hex supernatural powers that allow him to interact with the dead. This was never a part of the comics. Maybe the filmmakers just needed some plot device to allow them to load the movie up with special effects.

This is really a movie about honor and revenge, with a (mostly) great cast.
Josh Brolin plays Jonah Hex, the ex Civil War hero who was horribly disfigured when an attack on his life only maimed him … but killed his entire family in front of his eyes. Brolin is perfect as the tortured cowboy looking for revenge.

John Malkovich plays Confederate General Turnbull, the person who slaughtered Hex’s family while forcing Jonah to watch. Malkovich does his best evil villain here as his character oozes with violence.

When Turnbull gets his hands on a cache of weapons of mass destruction and shows all indications that he intends to use them against the United States, the government recruits Jonah to stop him.

So goes the story of Jonah Hex tracking the man who ended his life. The actual hunt is suspenseful and bloody. But nothing will prepare you for the final fight.

Watch 310 To Yuma Description

3:10 to Yuma is an interesting movie. We have a classic American western whose two lead actors are an Englishman (Christian Bale) and an Australian (Russell Crowe). Yet it is hard to think of two different people in these roles.

More of a character study than a typical western, 3:10 to Yuma tells the story of two men, one a maimed Civil War hero and the other a cold blooded killing bandit. We are introduced to both through each ones back story.

Then both lives intertwine when the bandit Ben Wade (Crowe) is captured in the same town where rancher Dan Evans (Bale) happens to be passing through. Bounty Hunter Byron McElroy (Peter Fonda) puts together a posse to help escort Wade to the 3:10 train that will take them to Yuma and prison. Evans joins the posse and thus begins the long trek to the railroad.

Along the way Evans and Wade start to develop a sort of mutual respect as the posse fights off Wade’s approaching men and the townspeople who shoot at them. In the thrilling final battle the audience will be wondering just who the good guys actually are.
