Piranha 3D is not bashful about what it wants to do as a movie. Show half naked college aged women with big breasts being eaten by razor tooth fish. And no other movie has ever done that as well as Piranha 3D.
The film centers around spring break and the college kids who come to Lake Victoria every year. As they converge here for the new year, no one realizes that an underwater earthquake has just opened the lake up to a previously blocked off second lake where prehistoric man eating piranha have been locked since the beginning of time. These fish are hungry and drunken college kids are just what they are craving.
There is a second parallel story going on at the same time where the director/owner of a “girls gone wild” type of franchise has arrived at the lake awaiting the coeds. The owner feels he can make a killing by video taping these woman getting plastered and then selling the dvds online.
We also have the classic cliché of the local sheriff who learns that something is wrong in the water but can’t close the beach due to meddling by money grabbing bosses.
This is fun, mindless entertainment!
