Watch Skyline Description
At a time where big alien blockbusters cost $200 plus to create, the makers of Skyline have somehow managed to create one for a reportedly chintzy $10 million. Well they must have put all that money into the special effects because those are rather respectable. Consequently, there must have been no money left for the actors because they suck.
Similar to the begining of Independance Day and War of the Worlds, the people living in Los Angeles go outside to investigate when sudden bright lights appear. After they are out in the open they start getting sucked up into alien ships that have parked over the city. The people are being used as instant food.
Eric Balfour and Scottie Thompson star as a couple who are very near the birth of their child. They won the “worst luck in the world” award when they travelled to Los Angeles to visit a friend ONE DAY BEFORE THE ALIEN INVASION. Where before the invasion they were just going to sit around a relax, now they have to fight not to be eaten. And that is how the movie continues … with bands of people fighting the aliens as they try to get to the safety of the Ocean. Apparently these aliens don’t like the water either.
As I said earlier, the special effects are quite good, especially given the shoestring budget. But the dialog is ridiculous and the acting worse. I fully expect this film to be paradied many times over in the coming months and years. It’s that laughable.
But if you ignore all the gaping plot holes and inane dialog, you will probably end up liking this film.
