Watch For Colored Girls Description
For colored girls is an exhausting look at the troubled and unhappy lives that many black women experience. Tyler Perry, the maker of this movie, uses poetry for dialog. This is not readily apparent as you hear the actresses speak. But occasionally you recognize a few lines and then you realize what is going on. I had not previously seen a movie that tried this and thought it worked rather well.
The women in this movie talk (and cry) about all the bas things they have witnessed and experienced. Topics such as rape, promiscuity, unemployment, abuse and other problems are discussed in length.
But here is where I have a problem. How are these issues just for “colored girls”? These are issues that many woman (and men) face no matter what race or color or political affiliation or whatever they are. I found myself asking this question repeatedly throughout the second half of the movie.
