The Dilemna, starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James as lifelong buddies, is a surprisingly dark and adult oriented movie that doesn’t appear to be targeted to the under 25 moviegoer. This comes as a shock since just about every movie either of these actors make are laser-targeted to that group.
In this movie, the “dilemma” is whether or not Ronny (Vince Vaughn) should tell his childhood friend Nick (Kevin James) that he saw his wife kissing and making out with a much yonger man. Part of the hesitation is due to Ronny not wanting to hurt his friend. But the bigger resaon is that Ronny and Nick have teamed up to pitch a possibly lucrative idea to the Chrysler Corporation, and Ronny doesn’t want to take a chance that this news could derail Nick and the project.
The movie combines laughs with serious moments. The destruction of a marriage is not something to take lightly.
Vaughn and James make a very good team and kind of remind me of that old Abbott and Costello partnership from way back. I can see them doing more movies together in the future.
Just one criticism … no one would ever believe that Kevin James and Winona Ryder were a couple.
