Watch MacGruber Description
If you are looking to kill two hours then streaming MacGruber online, an amusing and entertaining film, might be for you. Based upon a recurring sketch on the show Saturday Night Live, it tells the story of an ex-military operative (Will Forte) who is forced to come out of a ten year hiding when his arch enemy Dieter von Cunth (Val Kilmer) gets his hands on a nuclear device.
Ten years earlier Cunth killed MacGruber’s wife on their wedding day in an attack meant to kill MacGruber himself. Though he survived he was devastated and allowed everyone to believe that he was in fact killed in the ambush. Now that Cunth is about to start a reign of terror that apparently no one can stop, MacGruber has reluctantly remerged for one final confrontation.
Though this sounds like a gripping thriller, MacGruber is a comedy. The film makers have salt and peppered the script with references to and parodies of well known 1980s crime fighter shows. The most easily recognizable “homage” is to MacGyver, but you will also see references to Starsky and Hutch, Rockford Files, A-Team and others.
Don’t be turned off by all the past lousy movies made from other Saturday Night Live sketches, movies like Coneheads, Stuart Saves His Family, It’s Pat, The Ladies Man and A Night at the Roxbury. Those were truly awful. But MacGruber is more on a level of Wayne’s World or The Blues Brothers. A very good movie that won’t win awards, but will keep you entertained for a few hours.
