Watch The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Description
This is a good very good movie, but be warned, this is NOT The Sorcerer’s Apprentice that you probably think of when you hear that title. You know, the sequence from the Disney movie Fantasia where Mickey Mouse puts on his wizard’s outfit and cap and then bungles the magic spell, causing the dancing brooms to flood the castle?
Yes, that scene is in this movie, but it lasts about 5 minutes. The majority of the film has nothing at all to do with that classic scene. Here, Balthazar (Cage) is released after centuries of captivity. He learns that his arch enemy and evil wizard has also escaped from his prison. It is up to Balthazar to find and stop the wizard before he can control the world. But to stop him he is going to need the assistance of another wizard.
Since wizards just don’t grow on trees, Balthazar is forced to train one himself. He finds a person (a college age geek) who has innate magical powers and decides to tutor him in the art of sorcery. It is this training that takes up the bulk of the film. When the class is over, the master and apprentice must then take on the evil wizard for the fate of the earth.
The special effects in this movie are just great. Especially the fight scene where the lighting ball gets whipped all over the place. This is a movie that you are really going to want to see.
